Think ‘Mangrove’ Forests

Think ‘Mangrove’ Forests

A shortlisted finalist entry into the Think Forests Video Competition by the CIFOR (Center for International Forestry Research). Why are mangroves so important? How are they under threat? And what can we do to help protect them? This short animation sets out to answer those questions, using photographs submitted to the first ever Mangrove Action Day Photography Contest, encouraging participation and helping to spread awareness of the importance of these coastal forests.

Around 210 million people live in low elevation areas within 10 km of mangroves and many of these directly benefit from mangrove-associated fisheries. (Blue Forests)
